  • How big are Baked by Melissa treats?

    They’re just a bite! Well, maybe two for those who can control themselves. Each cupcake is slightly larger than a quarter in diameter. We offer handcrafted cupcakes, gluten-free cupcakes, vegan cupcakes, and macarons! We make them small so you can try them all.

  • How many cupcakes should I order?

    If this is the only dessert being served, people usually eat 4-5 cupcakes. For kids, we recommend 1-3.

  • Can I modify or cancel my order?

    All orders are final, so make sure everything looks correct at checkout, and it should be smooth sailing! If you make an error, the best way to reach out is by using our Live Chat feature—we’ll do our best to help, but please note that no changes are guaranteed.

  • Are Baked by Melissa products nut-free?

    No, our products are not nut-free. Most of our flavors do not contain nuts in the recipe, but our cupcakes are baked in a kitchen where nut ingredients are used, so there is a possibility of cross-contamination.

    We do offer party-safe packs filled with delicious, no-nut flavors, though! Keep in mind that all of our macarons are made with almond flour and our vegan cupcakes contain coconut.

  • What is the nutritional/calorie information for Baked by Melissa cupcakes?

    Each cupcake is different, but they range from 35 to 70 calories each. Yup, that’s right. You can find additional information by clicking the flavors on our flavors page.

  • Will Baked by Melissa products arrive fresh?

    Yes! We cushion our custom packaging with insulated padding and frozen gel packs to ensure your treats arrive fresh. We guarantee it! For more information on our shipping, visit our Shipping FAQs.

  • What if I’m not happy with my order?

    We exist to make people happy—it’s as simple as that. If you’re unhappy with your order for any reason, please let us know by contacting our Customer Happiness team here or by calling (212.842.0220). We do our best to personally reply to everyone in a timely manner, but please be aware that during high-volume times (like holidays!), it may take longer for you to hear back.   • What cupcake flavors does Baked by Melissa offer?

    We have at least 18 flavors at any one time, including classic flavors, gluten-free options, vegan cupcakes, seasonal collection and the Mini of the Month. Check out our current menu here.

  • Are there any new flavors coming out?

    All. The. Time. We love dreaming up new flavors. Every month, we have a new Mini of the Month; seasonally, we have a collection of three new cupcakes, and we always bake something special around holidays.

  • Does Baked by Melissa make larger sized cupcakes or cakes?

    Nope, we’re small and we like it that way. We want you to be able to try all of our awesome flavors, and you would be stuffed if they were any bigger. We do, however, offer a seriously cool electric tie-dye layer cake for pickup and local delivery if that’s more your jam.

  • Are Baked by Melissa products nut-free?

    No, our products are not nut-free. Most of our flavors do not contain nuts in the recipe, but please note that our cupcakes are baked in a kitchen where nut ingredients are used, so there is a possibility of cross-contamination.

    Our gluten-free cupcakes are baked in a dedicated gluten-free kitchen. All of the ingredients we use are certified gluten-free or are manufactured in dedicated gluten-free facilities.   • Does Baked by Melissa have an ingredient list?

  • Where are Baked by Melissa products baked?

    All of our products are made in our bakery in New Jersey and delivered fresh to our stores daily.

KOSHER CERTIFICATION

  • Is Baked by Melissa Kosher-certified?

    Yes! Our bakery and products are certified kosher by OK Kosher. OK Kosher verifies that every ingredient we use and all of our production processes are kosher-compliant. Here’s what else you should know:

    • All orders shipped directly from our bakery are kosher.
    • Pre-packaged assortments in stores are kosher, since they were sealed at our bakery with the OK-D symbol.
    • Our stores are not kosher, since they are open 7 days a week, so Pick Your Flavors options in stores aren’t kosher.
    • Our products are not certified Cholov Yisroel, kosher for Passover, or kosher parve (including the vegan assortment since they are baked in our dairy kosher-certified kitchen).

  • How can I place a kosher order?

    Easy! If you’re ordering online, just go through the regular ordering process. If you prefer to shop in-store, our pre-packaged cupcakes are certified kosher and can be purchased by walking in or ordering for local delivery. To get a kosher specialty pack (like new parents gifts, pick your own, or engagement packs) in-store, order for pickup online or call 212.842.0220 7 days in advance. Our bakery will deliver sealed, kosher-certified packs to the store of your choice.

  • I have a few gifts to send—how can I send Baked by Melissa to multiple addresses?

    Absolutely! Our site makes it easy to send gifts to multiple addresses in one order! Just add all the items to your cart, then click “Checkout & Send to Multiple Addresses” to begin the checkout process. Have questions? We have answers here.   • What gift box options can I choose from?

    Glad you asked! Our unique keepsake gift boxes add extra excitement to every gift to really show you care. Online, we offer premium gift boxes that fit cupcake 25-Packs and macarons for many occasions, including our signature tie-dye box, congratulations, thank you, and happy birthday. For 50- and 100-Packs, we offer a colorful tie-dye gift box with a wide range of sleeves. We also offer seasonal gift boxes designed for your favorite gifting holiday, so be sure to check back often for new products. Our stores also always have a supply of colorful boxes and gift bags for last-minute gift wrapping!

  • Do you sell other party supplies?

    Yes! You can choose from a selection of our favorite add-ons, like cards, candles, and more on each product page. Or go ahead and send a birthday party in a box!

  • Will pricing information be included with my gift order?

    Nope! We do not include receipts or invoices with orders placed online or over the phone. You’ll get a confirmation email with your order details. Printed receipts are available for orders placed in stores.

  • What about weddings? Will you bake my wedding cake?

    We’re down for any celebration!   • How far in advance do I have to order?

    Our gifting team is on your side when it comes to sending gifts on time! Group gifting must be finalized 3 business days in advance of arrival, except for during peak holiday times (November to December) when we require 7 business days.     We have 13 store locations in the New York metropolitan area, plus a pop-up in Boston. Find addresses and store hours on our locations page!

  • Is there a minimum for placing an order in-store?

    Nope! You can purchase any quantity on the spot.

  • Is there a credit card minimum for ordering in-store?

  • What type of payment does Baked by Melissa accept for orders placed in-store?

    We accept all major credit cards, Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay for worry-free, contactless payment.

  • Is it easy to park outside Baked by Melissa store locations?

    We get it, it’s NYC—parking is tough. We don’t offer designated parking at any of our Manhattan store locations, but it's easiest to park near or pull up to our Upper West Side, Union Square, or Gramercy store locations.

  • Can I still choose my own flavors in-store?

    Yes! We’re thrilled to bring back Pick Your Own at 9 retail locations, including Columbus Circle, Fashion District, Financial District, JFK, Garden State Plaza, Grand Central, Roosevelt Field Mall, Upper East Side, Upper West Side, and 86th Street.

    If your favorite store doesn’t offer Pick Your Own again yet, you can still get any of our freshly sealed pre-packs or order in advance for pickup on our website!

  • Can I speak directly with a Baked by Melissa store location?

  • Can I bring my dog inside?

    We love all dogs, but only service dogs are permitted in stores.

    You can order online or over the phone with our Customer Happiness Team (212.842.0220) for pickup and nationwide shipping! You can also walk into any of our 14 locations and order on the spot.

  • Do I need to pre-order to pick up in store?

    Totally your call. Most of our assortments are available at all Baked by Melissa locations, so feel free to walk in! If you would like order ahead, pickup orders can be placed online or by calling our Customer Happiness Team (212.842.0220). If you want a unique celebration pack (like these cute new parent gifts), those require an advance order.

  • What type of payment does Baked by Melissa accept?

    For online orders, we accept credit cards (Amex, Visa, MasterCard, Discover), PayPal, and Apple Pay. For phone orders, we accept credit cards only (Amex, Visa, MasterCard, Discover). For walk-in orders, we accept all major credit cards, Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay for worry-free, contactless payment.

  • When will my credit card be charged?

    Your credit card will be charged when you finalize your order.

  • Can I place my order through email?

CUPCAKE CARE & STORAGE

  • How should I store Baked by Melissa cupcakes?

    Freeze em’! (Freezer, not fridge). They’ll stay fresh for up to 2 weeks, just take them out 20-30 minutes prior to serving. Pro tip: The cupcakes are also pretty awesome straight out of the freezer. You’re welcome.

  • How are the cupcakes packaged?

    Our cupcakes are packaged in clear plastic containers that keep our treats fresh! Each cupcake or macaron sits in its own little bubble within the pack so that they won’t smush in transit. These packs are designed for sharing, with a lid that can be easily removed to serve party desserts. Cute, right? They stack really nicely, too.

  • Can I travel with my order?

    Absolutely! Our packs are great travelers. If you choose to bring an ice pack, we recommend wrapping the cupcake pack in plastic as there will be some condensation. For airplanes, we suggest storing our product in your carry-on.

LOCAL DELIVERY & FREE PICKUP

  • What is a free pickup order?

    Pickup orders are orders placed in advance online or over the phone for pickup at select store locations. All you need to do is come in, tell our sales associate that you’re there for pickup, and give them the name for the order and they’ll hand it over. It’s that easy!

  • Do I need to order in advance?

    Well, you don't NEED to, but if you are ordering a 25-Pack or more and would like it ready upon your arrival, then yes. We always have plenty of cupcakes and macarons in our stores, but if you want a specific assortment (like our wedding flavors) or a kosher-certified Pick Your Flavors assortment, please order those in advance!

  • How can I place a pickup order?

    Free pickup orders can be placed online or over the phone with our Customer Happiness Team (212.842.0220).

  • How far in advance do I need to place my pickup order?

    At least 1 hour in advance of your pickup time.

  • What is the pickup order minimum?

    There’s a $15 pickup order minimum. Smaller orders can be placed in stores!

  • Do I need to bring any type of confirmation with me?

  • Is it okay if someone else picks up my order for me?

  • What is a local delivery order?

    A local delivery order is an order that is delivered via courier! You can order local delivery on our website to Manhattan addresses between Battery Park and 110th Street. We also offer delivery through third-party apps, such as DoorDash, to select Long Island, NJ, and Boston addresses.

    Unlike our shipped orders, local delivery orders come directly from our stores (like a food delivery order) in a cute pink bag without ice packs.

  • What is the local delivery order minimum?

    Our delivery order minimum is $19 (a 12-Pack of cupcakes!)

  • How far in advance do I need to place my delivery order?

    Delivery orders can be placed online or over the phone with our Customer Happiness Team (212.842.0220) and must be placed before the start of your desired delivery window. Our delivery windows are 9am to 11am, 11am to 1pm, 1pm to 3pm, 3pm to 5pm, 5pm to 7pm, and 7pm to 9pm.

  • Is there a local delivery fee?

    Yes, our delivery fee is $10.95 per location.

  • When will my delivery order arrive?

    When placing a delivery order, you will be prompted to choose a delivery date and delivery window during which your order will arrive. We deliver 7 days a week, even on national holidays! Your order is guaranteed to arrive within the selected delivery window. Our delivery windows are 9am to 11am, 11am to 1pm, 1pm to 3pm, 3pm to 5pm, 5pm to 7pm, and 7pm to 9pm.

  • What if I am not available at my delivery time?

    This is precious cargo we’re talking about, so we can’t just leave your treats to fend for themselves! We will try to leave your order with a third party if we can (like your doorman, reception desk, etc.), but if that doesn’t work, your order will be available for pick-up at the nearest Baked by Melissa store location. If you'd like us to reattempt delivery, we offer a complimentary redelivery attempt! If it is unsuccessful twice, we can reattempt for an additional $10.95.

  • Can I request a more specific delivery time?

    We guarantee delivery orders arrive within the hours of the designated delivery window. We are happy to take requests for more specific delivery times, but we are not able to guarantee them. However, we always do our very best to accommodate requests!

  • Can the doorman/receptionist sign for my delivery order?

    Yes, as long as the doorman/receptionist accepts perishable goods! Please keep in mind that some buildings will not hold food deliveries, and the recipient will need to be available to receive the order.

  • Can I modify or cancel my order?

    All orders are final, so make sure everything looks correct at checkout, and it should be smooth sailing!

  • How can I track the progress of my delivery order?

    Please include the recipient’s phone number when placing your order so we can send text updates along the way! We'll send you an email when the order has been delivered.

MULTI-ADDRESS CHECKOUT

  • What is Multi-Address Checkout?

    Multi-Address Checkout allows you to place multiple orders going to different addresses in a single transaction. After adding the items to your cart, you can select which address you want each item to go to. Each address will create a separate order, however your payment method will only be charged once.

  • How many addresses can I ship to in one order using Multi-Address Checkout?

    You can ship up to 15 different addresses at a time.

  • What if I need to ship to more than 15 addresses?

    For orders with more than 15 addresses,contact our Gifting Team directly! They can help place large orders in one transaction. Learn more on our Corporate Gifting page!

  • Will I get an Order Confirmation email for my Multi-Address Order?

    After placing your order through Multi-Address Checkout, you will receive one confirmation email that includes information on all of your orders.

  • Will I get Delivery Notifications for my Multi-Address Order?

    You will receive delivery notification emails once each of your orders has shipped so you can keep track of every order.

  • What sorts of products are available for Multi-Address Checkout?

    Almost all of our products are available for Multi-Address Checkout! Multi-Address Checkout does not support In-Store Pick Up only products, but any products available for shipping or courier delivery are available for Multi-Address Checkout.

  • What kind of payment methods are available for Multi-Address Checkout?

    Multi-Address Checkout currently only supports credit cards (Amex, Visa, MasterCard, Discover). We hope to offer Apple Pay and PayPal support in the future.

  • Can I use Multi-Address Checkout as a guest?

    You must be logged into an account to use Multi-Address Checkout. If you don’t have an existing account,you can create one during the checkout process.

  • Can I select my arrival date in Multi-Address Checkout?

    Yes! During the multi-address checkout process, you will be able to select the desired arrival date for each of your orders.

  • How much does shipping cost in Multi-Address Checkout?

    You will need to pay shipping for each individual order within Multi-Address Checkout. Standard shipping rates start at $15.95.

  • Can I use a discount code in Multi-Address Checkout?

    Yes you can! You can add the promo code on the cart page or in Multi-Address Checkout on the Payment Information step. Promo code usage and discount total are subject to terms and conditions. Restrictions may apply.

  • Can I use multiple discount codes in Multi-Address Checkout?

    You can only use one promo code in Multi-Address Checkout.

  • Can I use an e-gift card in Multi-Address Checkout?

    Of course you can! You can add the e-gift card in the Multi-Address Checkout on the Payment Information step.

  • Are Multi-Address Checkout orders eligible for Sweet Rewards?

    Not yet! Orders placed through Multi-Address Checkout do not qualify for Sweet Rewards points, but you can use your Sweet Rewards rewards in the Multi-Address Checkout.

PICK UP ORDERS

  • What is a Pick Up Order?

    Pickup orders are orders that are placed in advance online or over the phone for pickup at select store locations. *Please see next point regarding pick up processes during COVID-19.

    Which locations are open for pick up?

    Contactless pick up is available at all stores excluding JFK Terminal .

    How does it work?

     Within 30 min of your selected pick up time, our in-house dispatcher will call you when the order is ready. We will allow one customer into the store at a time. Let the store associate know your name, and they will place your order in our designated pick up area. We kindly ask that you wear a face covering during pick up.

  • How far in advance do I need to place my Pick Up Order?

    At least 1 hour in advance of your pickup time.

  • What is the Pick Up Order minimum?

    We have a $15 pickup order minimum.

  • Do I need to bring any type of confirmation with me?

NATIONWIDE SHIPPING

 

  • What is a shipping order?

    Shipping orders are orders that are shipped nationwide to all 50 states via FedEx and CDL Last Mile.

  • How can I place my shipping order?

    Shipping orders can be placed online or over the phone with our Customer Happiness Team (212.842.0220).

  • How far in advance do I need to place my shipping order?

    Great question! It all depends on how quickly you need your order (yes, cupcake emergencies are a real thing). Please note that for next-day shipping arrivals, orders must be finalized by 2 pm Eastern Time the day prior. Next day shipping is available Monday - Friday. If you are an awesome party planner and gearing up for a special occasion, we recommend choosing an arrival date 1-2 days in advance. Sometimes high order volume (especially during the holidays) or weather conditions can make FedEx’s and CDL Last Mile's operational schedule a little wacky.

  • What is the shipping order minimum?

    Our shipping order minimum is $37 (one 25-Pack of cupcakes!).

  • How can I pay for my shipping order?

    You can pay with a credit card online or by calling 212.842.0220.

  • What products are available for nationwide shipping?

    We can ship everything nationwide, with the exception of our Electric Tie-Dye Cake and a few store-exclusive assortments. (It’s a great excuse to visit NYC!)

  • Will Baked by Melissa products arrive fresh?

    Yes! Our awesome packaging ensures that your products will arrive fresh — guaranteed!

  • How long will Baked by Melissa products stay fresh at home and while in transit?

    Our custom packaging keeps your cupcakes and other treats fresh for two weeks in the freezer, and up to 4 days in transit.

  • How does Baked by Melissa ship?

    We’ve got this part down. First we put your bite-size treats into our custom-designed packs, and then shrink-wrap them to keep them super duper fresh. They are then stacked in a foam liner with frozen gel packs. Then we put it in a really cute box, and FedEx or CDL Last Mile brings it to you!

  • How can I track the progress of my order?

    For shipping orders, we'll send you an order processing email with a tracking number 1-2 days before the arrival date. The "Track Order" button and tracking number will bring you to our tracking page, where you can watch your treats along their journey.

    For local delivery orders, we'll send you an email when the order has been delivered.

    For pickup orders, just head to your selected store at your pickup time and your treats will be waiting!

  • What should I do with my shipping order once it arrives?

    Open it! Open it! Then jump for joy! If you can somehow prevent yourself from immediately eating the contents of your box and want to serve your treats later, just take out the individual packs (shrink-wrap optional) and stick ‘em in the freezer. Take them out 20-30 minutes prior to serving and enjoy!

  • Where does Baked by Melissa ship?

    We ship nationwide to all states, including Hawaii and Alaska.

  • Do you ship to university campuses/mailroom P.O. boxes?

    Yes! We love to treat college students. While FedEx does not deliver to USPS P.O. Boxes, exceptions are made for student mailrooms (that’s right - mailrooms are not technically considered P.O. boxes! Phew!). Just be sure to verify the accurate guidelines and address format with the university.

  • What about APO addresses?

    We ship to APO addresses within the US. However, we recommend reaching out to the APO first to confirm that they will accept perishable items!

  • Does Baked by Melissa ship internationally?

    We’re currently only shipping within the U.S., but we may cross borders someday! Sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know.

  • When will my order arrive?

    You can choose your arrival date at checkout. If you have any questions, just give our Customer Happiness Team a call and we will be happy to assist you (212.842.0220)!

  • How long does it take to deliver Baked by Melissa?

    We offer next day shipping arrivals for Tuesday through Saturday arrivals, so long as the order is placed before 2PM ET the day prior.   • Is my arrival date guaranteed? What if my shipping order doesn’t arrive on the date I chose?

    Because we use FedEx and CDL Last Mile as a third-party shipping method, we are not able to guarantee arrival dates and times, but we try really, really hard to make sure it gets to you on time. If you’re planning for special occasions, we recommend choosing an arrival date 1-2 days early (so for weekend events, we recommend arrival on Thursday) so you can be worry-free! Your cupcakes and macarons will stay fresh in transit for up to 4 days and in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.

  • Do I need to be home to sign for my shipping order?

    Nope! FedEx and CDL Last Mile do not require a signature for our packages, which means that your order will be left at the arrival destination as long as the delivery person feels comfortable doing so. If the first attempt is unsuccessful, a second attempt will be made as soon as FedEx or CDL Last Mile can accommodate it, usually on the following business day.

  • Does Baked by Melissa offer Corporate or Group Gifting?

    Yes! Group Gifting is a fancy term for 10 or more individual Shipping Orders. It’s a great way to send everyone on your list a really sweet gift. Please note orders placed through Group Gifting must be finalized at least 7 days in advance, and is only available if you are placing 10 or more individual Shipping Orders.   • How can I order an E-Gift Card?

    You can purchase an E-Gift Card online. Looking to send 10 or more e-gift cards? Contact our Gifting Team directly or learn more on our Corporate Gifting page! When you’re finished, the recipient will receive an email with their E-Gift Card inside, a gift message, details of how to use it, and the sender's name (so they know who to thank for the best gift ever)!

  • Can I customize an E Gift Card for my company?

    Yes! Our creative team can design custom e-gift cards using your colors, logos or images. Minimum order value applies. Contact our gifting team to learn more.

  • How can I use my E-Gift Card?

    E-Gift Cards can be used for purchases placed online.  If you are placing your order online, enter your E-Gift Card code in the Cart prior to continuing to checkout.

  • When did Baked by Melissa open?

    We were born in 2008, when Melissa herself was baking every cupcake in the basement of Cafe Bari. Our first location—a popup window in Soho—opened in March 2009. Read our full story here.
